Have you ever wanted to attend an Islamic art course but were not sure whether the money was worth the investment or not? Or have you ever wanted to buy that shiny geometry compass you saw on Instagram but were not sure whether you actually need it or not?

Maybe you are a mum who has no income, or a student with very little money. Maybe Islamic geometry is just a hobby for you so why pay extra money for a hobby, right?

The answer to this question is subjective and depends on individual circumstances. However, in general, investing in Islamic geometry as a hobby can be a worthwhile endeavour for several reasons.

The reality of facts

First of all, I would say that not everything is expensive.

Take into consideration geometry tools. When we see IG artists sharing their geometry compass pics we immediately think “this looks expensive”, right? But have you ever made some research?

Thanks to second-hand and vintage markets, you can purchase superior-quality tools for a very reasonable price.

You can also read about Why You Should Invest in High-Quality Drafting Tools here.

We also have to be very honest with ourselves and realize that many times we spend money on things we don’t need and we cry over money spent on things we like such as Islamic art courses. Given all the benefits listed in the next point maybe you can allow yourselves to indulge in that course you have always wanted to attend.

What do you get?

This is a very interesting question to ask ourselves every time we purchase something.

Islamic art provides a unique way to express creativity and enhances mental agility. The process of creating geometric patterns requires a significant amount of patience, precision, and attention to detail. This can be an excellent opportunity to improve hand-eye coordination, concentration, and problem-solving skills.

Learning Islamic geometry can also be an enriching experience as it provides an opportunity to connect with the rich cultural and historical traditions of the Islamic world. Islamic geometry is deeply rooted in Islamic art and architecture and can offer insight into the aesthetics and philosophy of Islamic culture.

And if you are anything like me, more worried about the investment in time rather than money, I’ll be honest with you. Islamic geometry is a complex art form that requires a significant amount of time and dedication to master. However, this investment of time can be rewarding as it can lead to personal growth and fulfilment.

Side hustle

Maybe you can’t make a living out of it, but Islamic art can be an amazing side hustle.

The demand for Islamic geometric designs has been growing in recent years, and many businesses and individuals are willing to pay for high-quality geometric designs. For those who have mastered the art form, this can be an opportunity to earn money while doing something they enjoy.

Once you acquire the basic knowledge, you can teach others, sell your prints on print-on-demand websites such as Society6, collaborate with companies…you name it.

Another thing that comes with a side hustle is the opportunity to learn new stuff, such as email marketing, website development, content creation etc. All those skills are extremely valuable and can be repurposed for other jobs.

In conclusion, the question of whether the money is worth the investment for an Islamic geometry hobbyist depends on individual circumstances. However, for those who are passionate about this art form, the investment can be worthwhile as it provides an opportunity for creativity, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of Islamic culture. Furthermore, pursuing Islamic geometry professionally can also lead to income generation.

I’m curious, are you investing in Islamic art or you are more reluctant to it? Let me know in the comments below.
